Dominic Pezzola, Who Smashed the Window on the Capital Building, Four Years After January 6th

Trump ruined so many lives with his lies and as his MAGA followers suffer the consequences of their actions, they are gradually forgotten by MAGA and almost everyone else as the world moves on without them. A lot of the Jan 6er's do their fundraising via GiveSendGo. I like to check and see how they are doing from time-to-time. Dominic Pezzola, who famously smashed the window on the Capital building with a shield stolen from a LEO and was sentenced to 10 years in prison has a active GiveSendGo account operated by his wife. She describes in her updates how his criminal activity, incarceration, and conviction has affected the family over the last three plus years. It's a sad read-- so many lives damaged so severely over Trump, who literally does not care about anything or any one if it does not satisfy an immediate need of his. After Dominic Pezzola's arrest, the Pezzola family initially asked for donations of $175K for living expenses and legal fees. They have raised $90K in all this time. Ninetly thousand dollars really isn't a lot of money to live on in terms of just houshold expenses when spread over 3-4 years-- and that's not including the money nnede for or diverted to legal fees. In update posts to the dindraising account, Pezzola's wife talks about how his arrest an incarceration have affected the family- one child had to drop out of college, the other had to give up all extracurricular activities. Even Mrs. Pezzola's mother could not get the attention and upport she needed from her daughter as she fough cancer because her daughter was occupied with the problems Dominic's actions had visited upon the family. But as the world moves on without him, his actions become more an more meaningless over time and he is forgotten by everyone who is not an immediate family member. As of today, the last donations received to the GiveSendGo account were 20, 30 and 90 days ago and totaled just 95 dollars. Mrs. Peezzola's last update was over a year ago. But even in late 2023, they family was still defiant and angry. Their complaints are large and small. The food in jail is unacceptable. The jury was unfair. And they continue to insist Dominic is a political prisoner being punished unfairly by Democrats. Mrs. Pezzola says Mr Pezzola "didn't hurt anyone that day" but she's wrong. He hurt the country by eroding confidence in our local and national government, which is made up of our fellow citizens and neighbors, with lies. He hurt the Democratic process and the peaceful transfer of power by supporting his candidate's attempt to steal an election via lies, fraud, intimidation, and outright criminal activity. And he hurt me when he tried to take away my vote. I'm sympathetic to the suffering of the Pezzola family, especially to the children and the extended family memebers of Dominic and Lisa, but I'm not terribly sympathetice to Dominic and Lisa themselves. They fell for the lies of a conman. That's understandable. It happens. But to continue to insist that they are in the right when every single piece of evidence provided over these last 3-4 years proves they are wrong over and over again is not sympathy worthy. They may now be so invested in their position they it can never change. If so, that is even sadder than coming to the realization that they were duped.
