I Wasted the Night Watching "Alone" It's a series show where they drop 10 folks off somewhere with their clothing, 65 pounds of video equipment, and 10 survival instruments of their choice. Of course most take a knife, a saw, some rope or fishing line, a fire starter, etc. They are dropped off in the same general area, wherever that is, but in separate spots, so are "alone" against the elements. Most the participants seem to be wilderness survival instructors but at least two are just women with odd, hardscrabble lives. I like that they allow a fair amount of women into the contest. The prize is half a million dollars. The players can take a toothbrush (but no toothpaste) and one picture (if they choose to take one). They do get regular medical checks but the medicos interact with them as little as possible- no chit-chat. They can keep and use anything they find in the area.
